Alumni Insight Programme at JKKN College of Pharmacy
The Alumni Insight Programme, held at JKKN College of Pharmacy on October 19th, 2023, was a transformative event that brought together Vth and Internship Pharm. D students to delve into the dynamic roles and responsibilities of clinical pharmacists in a hospital setting.
Diving into Clinical Pharmacy
Dr. K. Sathyapriya, a Senior Clinical Pharmacist at Kauvery Hospital, Bangalore, and the esteemed chief guest, shared her extensive experience and knowledge, shedding light on how clinical pharmacists ensure patient safety and effective medication management, emphasizing their crucial role within the healthcare system.
Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Development
In a departure from traditional seminar formats, the event adopted the Design Thinking Framework-Based Events and Hackathon structure. Students were divided into groups, each dedicated to one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, they explored SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). These groups brainstormed innovative solutions that wove the roles of clinical pharmacists into the fabric of these SDGs, offering fresh perspectives on healthcare and education.
This pioneering programme commenced with the graceful inauguration by Dr. V. Senthil, the Principal of JKKN College of Pharmacy, who underscored the evolving role of pharmacists in today’s healthcare landscape. It concluded with Dr. M. Vijayabaskaran, the Alumni Coordinator, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the participants, faculty, and the exceptional Dr. Sathyapriya for her invaluable contributions.
This event not only provided an educational platform but also served as an ideation hub, fostering innovation and forward-thinking among the pharmacists of the future. It further solidified JKKN College of Pharmacy’s standing as a premier institution for pharmaceutical education in the region.
