Institution’s Innovation Council of J.K.K.Nattraja College of Pharmacy have organized one day (11.01.2020) Campus Internal Hackthon as a preliminary filter competition for Smart India Hackathon 2020, the World’s Biggest Open Innovation Model, an initiative by Ministry of HRD.
Our Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) have provided dynamic platform for the young mindset to solve pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation. The last edition of the hackathon (SIH-2019), six membered team Ms.Janavi S Gauradas, Mr.M.Akash, Ms.M.Monisha, Mr.N.Lokesh, Ms.J.Gayathri, Mr.K.R.Sathyaramanan (Phram.D students) and TRAILBLAZERS (Mr.Nithyapriyan, Mr.Maheshboopathi, Mr.Sridharan, Mr.Hariharan, Ms.Jayarahini and Ms.Mushinanisha, B.Pharm students), got selected for the Grand Finale SIH-2019 Hardware & Software edition respectively from our Institution.
In SIH 2020, our principal Dr.R.Sambathkumar motivated and encouraged our students to use the big platform to work on challenges faced within various Ministries, Departments, PSUs and NGOs to create world class solutions for the top organizations including industries in the world, thus helping the Private sector hire the best minds from across the nation. Ministry of HRD have shared following themes for SIH 2020: Smart Communication, Healthcare & Biomedical devices, Agriculture & Rural Development, Smart Vehicles, Food Processing, Robotics and Drones, Clean water, Waste management, Renewable Energy, Security & Surveillance and Miscellaneous.
A Team of 6 students with at least a female candidate is mandatory for SIH 2020, our IIC have given adequate mentorship to the students from our faculty members and our experts Dr.R.Shanmugasundaram and Dr.M.Venkateswaramurthy for each teams in developing their ideas for SIH competition. The Single Point of Contact (SPOC), IIC activity Coordinator Mrs.R.Elavarasi, Asst.Professor was the coordinator of Internal Hackthon. She has kept monitoring our students in each and every step of idea development. Mr.K.Nazarkhan, Community Engagement And External Communication Manager, J.K.K.N Innovation Ecosystem, J.K.K.N Educational Institutions and Mr.G.Xavier Richards, Innovation officer , JKKN Innovation Center for advanced technologies, JKKN educational Institutions were the chief evaluators of the Campus Internal Hackathon. Totally 24 teams had participated in the Internal Hackathon and covered overall problem statement in all technology buckets and had given 59 solutions for the given problems.
Among them 11 teams were selected, out of which 7 teams (5software and 2 hardware) assured their entry for SIH 2020 and 4 teams were kept in waiting list (2 software and 2 hardware).
