A One Day Students Forum workshop on “INCEPTO – Insights on Clinical Excellence Pragmatic Training & Orientation” in the Theme ‘Caring Beyond Prescription’ was conducted on 28.09.2019 at J.K.K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy, Kumarapalayam from 10 AM to 5.00 PM.
Dr. R. Sambathkumar, Principal, J.K.K.Nattraja College of Pharmacy, inaugurated the workshop and welcomed the delegates. Dr. N. Venkateswaramurthy, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice, felicitated the function and explained the importance of student’s forum workshops. The pharm D interns of our college came up with innovative ideas of creating a blog and a book. Blog named ‘MEDICORZ- Know Your Prescription’, which came up with a mission to empower society with a knowledge to improve their own healthcare by providing authentic drug information. It contains case reports relating to drugs and diseases, video presentations, pharma news, a blood donation portal, query submission portal, upcoming events in our college, live chat with pharmacist etc. and a book named ‘MEDICUS-Pharmacist Handbook’ containing Drug Information, Common Medical Abbreviations, Laboratory Values, Dose adjustments in Renal and Hepatic Impairments, Pediatric Dose Calculation, Drug Information Resources etc. Also, they arranged a PHOTO CONTEST to showcase original images pertaining to medical/pharmaceutical roles and environments.
In the morning, we had two sessions. Our first session was presented by Dr. Lidhu Daniel, Pharm. D, Paediatric Clinical Pharmacist, GKNM Hospital, Coimbatore on the topic “Role of Clinical Pharmacist in Antibiotic Therapy” and the second session was presented by our alumna Dr. Keerthi Jayalekshmi, Pharm.D, Central Monitor, IQVIA Asia Pacific, Kochi on the topic “Career in Clinical Research Field: Myths and Facts”. Both the sessions were very interactive and the speakers answered many queries raised by the delegates through SLIDO.
In the afternoon session, Pharm. D interns of J.K.K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy currently practicing in various hospitals had conducted realistic presentations, interactions and activities by using their practical knowledge and skills gained during their internship period. It included realistic video presentations sharing our one day in hospital and experiences in various departments like General Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics and Psychiatry followed by slide presentations on topics Basic Life Support, Intravenous Fluid Therapy, Insights of Clinical Experience and Case Discussion.
Pharm. D students from our college and students from other colleges in and around Tamil Nadu attended the workshop. In the valedictory function, the winners for the photo contest was declared and awarded by our Pricipal, feedbacks from delegates were asked and the Vote of thanks was given by our Vice Principal Dr. R Shanmugasundarm, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, J.K.K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy. He thanked our Pharm. D interns for organizing an informative workshop.
