One Day National seminar was conducted at J. K. K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy, Kumarapalayam in the topic “Prevention and Control of Emerging Vector Borne Infectious Diseases” on 23.01.2019. The seminar was catalysed and financially supported by Tamilnadu state council for science and technology, Department of higher education, Government of Tamilnadu and was organized by Indian Pharmaceutical Association Bhavani- Kumarapalayam Local Branch and Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry – J. K. K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy, Kumarapalayam.
The Inaugural session of the seminar commenced with the welcoming of the guests and guest speakers on the Dias.
In the inaugural session,
Dr. R. Sambathkumar, Principal, J. K. K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy, welcomed the resource persons and delegates.
Dr. N. Ayyadurai., M.Sc., Ph.D, Senior Scientist (Department of Biotechnology), Central Leather Research Institute, Adayar, Chennai has given a presentation on the topic “Role of antibody drug conjugates in vector borne diseases”.
Dr. B. Maheswari., M.B.B.S., District Training Team Medical Officer, Office of Deputy Director of Health Services, Erode district has given her speech on “Prevention and control strategies for dengue”. She has clearly emphasised the individual responsibility of every citizen towards prevention and control of dengue.
Dr. M. Vijayabaskaran., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, J. K. K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy, has shared his views on the topic “Anti filarial drug development -A target based approach”.
Dr. B. Paventhan., M.B.B.S., DCH., Assistant Surgeon, Government Head Quarters Hospital, Erode has delivered a speech on the topic “Risk factor and precautions of swine flu”.
E-poster session was conducted at Nattraja hall with 25 participants from different pharmacy colleges. The E-posters were evaluated by Dr. V. Sekar., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, J. K. K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy and Dr. P. Senthil Kumar., Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, J. K. K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy.
First prize was awarded to Ms. P. V. Sangeetha, Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy, Tiruchengode, Second prize to Ms. Ashna Aby, J. K. K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy, Third prize were shared by Ms. Vidhya, J. K. K. Nattraja College of Pharmacy, Mr. Prakash, Vinayaga Missions College of Pharmacy, Salem, Ms. B. Indhuja, Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy, Tiruchengode.
Faculty members and students from different colleges – Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy-Tiruchengode, Nandha College of Pharmacy-Erode, Erode College of Pharmacy-Erode, Sengundhar College of Pharmacy-Tiruchengode, Vinayaga Missions College of Pharmacy-Salem, Shanmuga College of Pharmacy-Sangakiri, Excel College of Pharmacy-Sangakiri, PGP college of Pharmacy-Namakkal were participated in the one day national seminar. Totally 350 students participated in the national seminar.
